Casa Capirote is conceived as a spatial interpretation of Seville, where material memory and contemporary living are woven into a single, adaptable interior. The design draws particular inspiration from Triana pottery, long associated with the city’s ceramic tradition and its presence in civic spaces such as Plaza de España. Rather than reproducing ornamental references, the project translates this heritage into subtle gestures, expressed through geometric patterns and crafted details embedded in the bed headboard, structural beams, and bathroom sink.

At its core, the apartment is defined by openness and transformation. Instead of fixed partitions, the space is organised as a continuous volume that can be reconfigured through the use of curtains. This simple yet deliberate device allows the interior to shift between collective and private modes, giving the apartment a fluid spatial identity that responds to daily rhythms rather than rigid functions.

Natural light plays a central role in shaping the atmosphere. Filtered across earth-toned and green surfaces, it reinforces a sense of warmth and continuity with the Andalusian environment. The absence of solid partitions allows light to travel freely, enhancing spatial depth and creating a soft, luminous interior that feels both expansive and intimate.

The material language reinforces this balance between tradition and contemporary clarity. Lime mortar, a historic finish deeply rooted in Andalusian construction, is used across the walls, introducing texture and a sense of permanence. Ceramic elements, referencing local craft traditions, appear throughout the apartment as tactile accents rather than decorative excess. These are complemented by contemporary furniture pieces defined by organic forms and restrained lines, establishing a dialogue between past and present.

By replacing compartmentalisation with continuity, Casa Capirote proposes a domestic space that is both flexible and atmospheric. It is a reinterpretation of Seville’s architectural memory, where craft, light, and material restraint converge into a quiet, adaptable interior rooted in place yet open to transformation.
