A contemporary Vietnamese home that reconnects people with nature

This is a contemporary residence located on a two-thousand-square-meter suburban site, designed to bring residents closer to nature while supporting the needs of modern living. Inspired by the “old man – new coat” philosophy, the design reinterprets the spirit of traditional northern Vietnamese houses through a modern architectural language.

At the center of the project is an elliptical main volume that appears as a “vault of heaven” lifted above the landscape. Supported by four stone walls aligned with the cardinal directions, the structure creates a flowing interior layout that blends public and private spaces. Deep eaves wrap around the perimeter, softening the transition between indoor areas and the surrounding gardens. A symbolic stone marks the heart of the house, emphasizing family unity.

The roof of the elliptical building becomes a rooftop garden for stargazing, gatherings and outdoor activities. Two secondary volumes, a front garage and a rear pool pavilion, frame the site and provide functional separation without disturbing the tranquility of the main living spaces.
