Nodum modular coffee tables by Francesc Rifé Studio

Francesc Rifé Studio shapes Kléos’s Nodum furniture through visible joints

Italian brand Kléos commissioned Francesc Rifé Studio to design Nodum, a furniture collection that treats the meeting of materials as part of each object’s form. First presented at Marmomac 2026, the collection uses travertine for coffee tables, a bench and magazine racks, with metal and walnut introduced where they sharpen the way each piece is assembled.

A language built around joints

Nodum takes its name from the idea of a node or connection. Rather than conceal how the pieces are made, the design brings cuts, joins and fittings into view. Travertine retains its weight and geological character, while the points where separate elements meet give the objects their structure and visual rhythm.

The modular coffee table is formed from stone elements linked by visible metal connectors. Repeating the modules allows the composition to grow or change in scale while retaining the same construction logic.

Mon combines a seat and side table

A single travertine volume gives Mon two functions. One end remains straight to support objects; the opposite end curves into a seat. Used alone, it reads as a compact bench with an integrated table. Two matching units can also be joined to extend the seating.

Magazine racks set stone against metal and walnut

The collection’s magazine racks explore different ways to balance the density of stone with lighter components. Ori pairs a travertine base with a folded upper element, combining two types of stone or substituting walnut for one of them. Sum uses a J-shaped travertine form around a metal interior, making the contrast between the materials part of its construction.

Travertine furniture collection by Kléos

The collection extends Kléos’s work with travertine, connecting a family tradition associated with the quarries of Tivoli and Guidonia to contemporary furniture design. For Francesc Rifé Studio, the material’s character emerges through the precise ways its parts are cut, joined and combined.
