Rik Frans Jansen brings construction materials into the bedroom with PLATFORM

Amsterdam architect and designer Rik Frans Jansen brings the language of building construction into the bedroom with PLATFORM, a bed presented at GOOD SELECTION during Paris Design Week 2026. Made from stainless steel and aluminium, the design leaves its joints, bolts and profiles visible, giving a familiar piece of furniture the presence of an architectural structure.

Measuring 250 × 220 × 50 centimetres, PLATFORM pairs an aluminium profile frame with bolted stainless-steel panels. The raised sleeping platform extends into a low headboard with integrated power outlets. Rather than concealing the connections and structural details, Jansen makes them central to the bed’s appearance.

A frame of steel, aluminium and exposed connections

The approach reflects Jansen’s architectural background and interest in materials encountered during construction. Here, metal panels and exposed profiles move from the building site into a domestic setting, where their weight and precision contrast with the softness of the bedding.

Berlin-based Brut Studios dresses the frame in 600-thread-count sateen made from extra-long-staple Egyptian cotton. The bedding comes in Ashen Stone and Concrete Blue, colours chosen to sit alongside the metal tones. Designed in Berlin and made in Egypt, the textiles extend the project’s restrained material palette. PLATFORM is available to order.
