Design with Curves: The Ultimate Fluidity Challenge

RETHINKING ARCHITECTURE THROUGH MOTION, FORM, AND EMOTION

Architecture has always reflected the spirit of its time, but today it faces an urgent challenge: how to remain expressive, responsive, and human in a rapidly transforming world. Design with Curves: The Ultimate Fluidity Challenge invites architects, designers, and creative thinkers to explore this question through the language of fluid form, parametric design, and spatial innovation.

Now launching its first edition, this international competition positions itself as a platform for experimentation, encouraging participants to push beyond conventional geometries and embrace curvature as a driver of emotion, performance, and meaning. At its core, the challenge asks a fundamental question: how can architecture move, adapt, and resonate in an increasingly dynamic world?

A NEW VISION FOR CULTURAL ARCHITECTURE

At the heart of the competition lies the proposal for a Fluid Architecture Cultural Center. This imagined institution is conceived as more than a building; it is a living system that responds to its context while shaping cultural exchange. Participants are invited to design a space that seamlessly blends architecture, technology, and experience, using fluid and organic forms to create a sense of continuity between structure, environment, and people.

The project encourages designers to explore how parametric tools can generate expressive yet functional forms, where spatial flow, movement, and material logic become central design drivers. The resulting architecture should support exhibitions, performances, and educational programs while standing as a symbol of innovation and forward-thinking design.

ARCHITECTURE AS EXPERIENCE AND EXPRESSION

Design with Curves challenges participants to move beyond conventional boundaries and engage architecture as an emotional medium. Proposals should respond to social, cultural, and environmental contexts while remaining grounded in feasibility and constructability. The goal is not abstraction for its own sake, but the creation of meaningful spaces that connect users to place, movement, and atmosphere.

Fluidity becomes both concept and method, shaping circulation, structure, and spatial perception. Through curvature, continuity, and transformation, architecture is positioned as a living experience rather than a static object.

AN INTERNATIONAL PLATFORM FOR EMERGING AND ESTABLISHED VOICES

Open to participants worldwide, the competition welcomes both individual designers and teams of up to four members. Submissions are evaluated by an internationally recognized jury composed of leading figures from globally influential architectural practices. The jury includes professionals from Zaha Hadid Architects, MVRDV, NT-AR, and External Reference, bringing together expertise in computational design, experimental architecture, and contemporary practice.

This diverse panel ensures a rigorous and forward-looking evaluation process, highlighting projects that demonstrate innovation, clarity of vision, and architectural excellence.

RECOGNITION AND AWARDS

Design with Curves offers international visibility and professional recognition to its winners. The first-place project will receive a prize of 1,000 USD, along with a certificate, publication, and featured interview. The second and third place winners will receive 500 USD and 300 USD respectively, also accompanied by certificates and publication opportunities. A dedicated Best Student Award will recognize emerging talent, while ten additional honorable mentions will receive certificates and publication exposure.

The total prize fund for the competition amounts to 1,800 USD.

KEY DATES AND PARTICIPATION

The competition officially launches on October 30, 2025. Registration remains open until January 30, 2026, which also marks the submission deadline. Winners will be announced on March 15, 2026.

Participation is open to all, regardless of professional background. Entries may be submitted individually or in teams of up to four members. All communication and submitted materials must be in English. A single registration fee applies, with no tiered pricing structure.

A PLATFORM FOR FUTURE THINKING

Design with Curves: The Ultimate Fluidity Challenge is more than a competition. It is an invitation to imagine architecture as a living, adaptive system—one that responds to culture, environment, and human emotion through form and movement. By merging computational intelligence with poetic expression, the competition seeks visions that redefine how architecture can feel, perform, and inspire.
